2nd XV  - The Dragons

Basingstoke 2nd XV, known internally as the Dragons, play in the competitive Hampshire Senior 2nd XV Merit division which consists of 8 teams who play home and away and then compete in a set of play offs again home and away to determine the champions.

Basingstoke use the 2nd XV as a blooding ground for talented academy players and the fixture list is sprinkled with a number of development games against similar opposition within Hampshire. At the same time we look to provide competition for places for the 1st XV.

The 2nd XV is supported by a Manager and 2 dedicated coaches who work closely with the 1st XV coaches to ensure game plans and moves are mirrored between the teams making it easier for players to move between the teams.

The team also has a dedicated physiotherapist for match days and midweek consultations from injuries received during playing.

The 2nd XV squad train together with the 1st Team Squad on Tuesdays between 7pm and 8:30pm and then work as a team on Thursdays (7pm – 8:30pm) in preparation for the game on the Saturday.
