Quick update - Earlier this year, I applied for some funding under the 'Volunteer It Yourself' (VIY) Project, from which we shortlisted for in Round One. I am really pleased to let you all know that along with only 9 other sports clubs in the whole of the UK, we have been successful and have been selected for the project.

The project is able to commit materials FOC courtesy of Wickes, and combines this with allowing young people from the age of 14-24 to learn trade and building skills whilst being mentored alongside by trades people. Those that volunteer have the opportunity to gain City & Guilds accreditation qualifications which can progress further to employment or further training.

WE NOW NEED THE FOLLOWING :

Volunteers from U14's upwards who would like to participate in the project ( This is not restricted to our own players but we should have a good start in providing the necessary resources for those that want to be involved from within BRFC )

Volunteers from any tradespeople in the rugby community with specific skills that may be useful ( carpentry, building, plumbing etc ) who can assist and mentor - There is a small amount of additional funding from 'Sport England' to cover Labour costs if absolutely necessary.

To cut a long story short, the main thrust of my submission concentrated on the expansion of changing room facilities, provision of screening area/update of shower space etc to improve and also allow for the growth of women's rugby at the club. The application also asked for improvements to the 'front of house', some of which we were able to complete during 'Rugby Force' day and some of which are still outstanding such as disability rails/ramp to allow for disabled access through the front entrance, more outside benches/seating amongst other improvements.

The programme will be managed by an independent Project Manager from VIY, and we are initially looking to begin the project in the week between SAT OCT 20TH and SUN OCT 28TH, and are estimating between 6-7 days for the first scope of works, so please e-mail me ASAP if you are interested and available in being involved.

Thank you everyone for your support.
