Proposed Changes to the constitution at 15.2 and 15.4:
The Committee of Basingstoke Rugby Football Club have been reviewing the changes made to the constitution last year. It became apparent that there was lack of clarity in the wording of Sections 15.2 and 15.4. This is the section concerning the appointment of Chairman.
You will see from the proposed wording below that any club member can apply for the post of Chairman of BRFC. That person may be interviewed by members of the committee and considered for the post before a vote by the club committee occurs.
The meeting will be held in the clubhouse where members will be asked to vote to accept or decline the suggested changes.
Proposed Wording to the Constitution at 15.2 and 15.4:
15.2 The Committee shall each year elect the Club Chairman, who will also be Chair of the Committee, for the ensuing year to hold office from the date of the Annual General Meeting until the date of the following year's Annual General Meeting. Any member can apply for the position of Club Chairman: applications must be received 2 weeks before the Committee meeting preceding the Annual General Meeting. The applicants for Chairman will be considered at this Committee meeting and a vote will take place by the members of the Committee. If required, the outgoing Chairman will have the casting vote. The Chairman may not hold any other position of officer of the Club at the same time and shall be eligible for re-election from year to year. The appointment shall be confirmed to members at the ensuing Annual General Meeting.
15.4 If a vacancy shall occur for an elected Member of the Committee between one Annual General Meeting and the next, such vacancy shall be filled by the Committee, or, the Committee may appoint a club member, including an officer, to serve until the following Annual General Meeting.
