You will have seen a lot of coverage and talk about the proposed improvements and extension to the changing facilities. The team, led by Dave Cook, have been busy trying to secure funding for the much needed and ambitious project for the last 18 months or so. Our facilities are dated, not suited to the current landscape of the club and our growing number of junior and female players and not compliant with our RFU accreditation. Simply put, they need an upgrade!
This week, following the recent £50k secured from Sport England, we took a massive step towards our goal with a £147,900 Local Infrastructure Fund grant from Basingstoke Council. This money will mean that, subject to planning approval at the end of the month, we can proceed with the works in the off season.
We still have some shortfall to make up from our own activities (see more details below) so we ask that you join us in supporting the May Ball at the Apollo and other fundraising plans for the coming months. We also have ambitions to stretch the works across the rest of the club giving all areas a facelift as part of the project!
Further details will be available from the website next week and in the local press.
We thank the local authority for this fantastic support
