BASINGSTOKE MINIS LAY DOWN THEIR MARK FOR THE SEASON!!

On Sunday 29^th. October Basingstoke Minis ( Under 7 – Under12 teams ) played in the Trojans Tournament at Eastleigh. This well-organised tournament had attracted teams from all over the South of England.

It was a warm autumn’s day which certainly seemed to suit our teams. I am very pleased to report that, on the day, all of the Basingstoke teams reached the final stages of the cup competition and really laid down a marker for the season for

Basingstoke RFC.

All teams played some magnificent rugby and we should be proud of the fantastic contribution they made to the day. The results for the various sections were as follows ;

Despite being unbeaten in the pool stages Basingstoke lost on tries scored, count back.

Pool Stages :

Win against Portsmouth, Salisbury, Vectis, and a draw with Andover saw the Under 9s top their group – unbeaten !!

After two of our age groups had been eliminated on tries scored, count back, justice was finally done and on try count back, after this hard fought draw, Basingstoke U12s were declared  CUP WINNERS !!!!

I cannot remember such an impressive start to a season and I am sure, like me, you will want to congratulate all the players and coaches on their successful day.
